When God Created
Teachers
When God created teachers,
Sometimes dreams long for
their students,
Standing there three feet
tall,
At first foe and later
friends,
Guided from the very first
crawl,
Whether ponytails or neat
haircut,
Hunching backpack with a big
grin,
Small steps in a morning
sight,
Mondays no more blue but
green.
When God created teachers,
Smiles never fade from
their face,
Though every night seems
like a grueling race,
In the classroom they are
there,
Making differences to
children’s lives,
Whom heart they share,
Slowly from the school
wooden chairs,
They’re not always right,
But it’s only to be fair,
They’re a human too,
And nothing rare.
When God created teachers,
They were told to paint
minds,
Molding young thoughts,
Strict yet so kind,
To let children admit
their faults,
Only to learn and
comprehend,
The beauty and the wonder,
Of everything they see,
To become a better person,
Within each discovery.
Why God created teachers,
In His wisdom and His
grace,
Was to help them learn to
make our world,
A better, wiser place.
And maybe that’s why,
God created teachers.
